About Us

Co-Investor is a joint venture between its management team and the Victor Smorgon Group, a prominent Australian family office. We manage capital for around 50 family offices and high net worth individuals.

We invest capital, skills and experience in emerging companies that occupy strong business niches. We like to be viewed as a trusted partner who will help companies reach their destination, rather than just a source of capital.

We aim to invest a minimum of A$10m per company, targetting minimum shareholdings of 15% in businesses capitalised at $50-200m.

We invest with a three to five year time horizon. When our job is done we sell, preferably to a natural corporate owner.

We roll our sleeves up to help make our investments work. This active approach requires us to limit the number of active investments we take on at any time.

We make our returns through operating leverage, not through financial leverage. We work to improve the operating performance of the companies we invest in and typically do not borrow money at either the portfolio or company level.

We invest significant amounts of our own money in the funds we manage. We are aligned with our investors. Our first priority is to preserve their capital.

We are a regional firm and aim to build regional businesses where doing so will add to investor wealth.

We have deep domain exertise in the Services, Technology and New Media sectors. We minimise our exposure to property, resources, biotech and to start-ups.
